It can take years before HIV weakens the immune system to the point that a person develops AIDS. NYU Langone doctors diagnose HIV infection and develop a treatment plan to prevent AIDS and other infections related to a suppressed immune system. Treatment for HIV Infection and AIDS

There is no cure for HIV infection and AIDS, but medication can control the virus. NYU Langone doctors prescribe a combination of medications, called antiretroviral therapy, to prevent or delay HIV infection from progressing to AIDS.
