NYU Langone鈥檚 Comprehensive Neurofibromatosis Center offers personalized and compassionate care for children and adults with neurofibromatosis (NF)聽types 1 and 2 and schwannomatosis (SWN). These disorders can cause tumors, which are usually benign, to form on nerves.

These conditions can affect many parts of the body. Because of this, we have put together a team of specialists to address the challenges our patients may experience. These specialists are part of the world-class team at NYU Langone.聽
We are committed to researching better and safer treatments for people with NF and SWN. We lead clinical trials for NF through the Neurofibromatosis Clinical Trials Consortium (NFTC). We are also designated as both a Comprehensive NF1 and Comprehensive SWN Center by the Children鈥檚 Tumor Foundation Clinic Network, and we see patients of all ages.
Care for children is provided through Hassenfeld Children鈥檚 Hospital at NYU Langone.
We have a nurse coordinator dedicated to helping patients and their families coordinate the care they need.

Our nurse coordinator discusses your needs by phone or email and determine which of our doctors best matches your specific condition and concerns. All prior imaging and medical records are requested. A social worker may contact you to assist with any special needs you may have.
At your first appointment, a detailed physical and neurological exam is performed and all previous records and tests are reviewed. Depending on your diagnosis, we may recommend additional tests, such as imaging studies and genetic testing.
The results of these tests will help determine the care plan that is best for you. Other NYU Langone experts鈥攊ncluding behavioral and learning specialists, geneticists, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, audiologists, plastic surgeons, and ear, nose, and throat specialists (also known as otolaryngologists)鈥攎ay assist in your care.

Patients of the Comprehensive Neurofibromatosis Center have access to our world-renowned neurosurgeons.
NYU Langone physicians care for conditions involving the ear and run one of the country鈥檚 largest auditory brainstem implant programs.
Children with neurofibromatosis type 2 who may not qualify for or benefit from a cochlear implant may be eligible for this clinical study.
